The importance of being "pure" neutrophils.

Abstract

To the Editor: The identification of polymorphonuclear neutrophils as cellular source of cytokines prompts researchers in the field to investigate whether the production of neutrophil-derived cytokines can be altered in human diseases.1 For such a purpose, we developed a simple procedure that allows the isolation of more than 99.6% pure neutrophils (here defined as Neu) from either whole blood or buffy coats.
